The Brewers Are Showing Fight Amid A Collapse
Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

For the past month or so, the Milwaukee Brewers have been trending in the wrong direction.

Many point to the Josh Hader trade as something that messed with the mojo of the team.

Ever since the trade, the Brewers have been sliding and have watched the St. Louis Cardinals surge past them in the NL Central standings.

They had even been slipping some in the Wild Card race, falling to four games back at the end of Wednesday.

But yesterday, the Brew Crew took both games of a doubleheader against the reeling San Francisco Giants.

With that, they have moved back to within 2.5 games of the San Diego Padres for the third National League Wild Card spot.

Brewers Sweep Twin Bill Versus The Giants

Could that be what the Brewers need to turn this thing around?

More than likely, they won’t catch the Cardinals, who have been on an absolute surge as of late.

But the Wild Card is still a possibility for these Brewers.

After losing two out of three to the Colorado Rockies, the Brewers caught a little bit of a break running into the slumping Giants, and now, their mission to reach the postseason for a fourth straight year is very much alive.

Corbin Burnes had himself a solid performance in the first game of the twin bill and the Brewers were able to hold off a late Giants rally to finish the nightcap.

This is a team that badly needs wins.

The Wild Card looks to be their best path as of right now.

They’re still alive there.

Winning back-to-back games is a good start.

We’ll see if they have a late season run in them and can take over the last Wild Card spot.
