The Diamondbacks Have 3 Gold Glove Finalists
Rob Schumacher/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK

Alek Thomas and Gabriel Moreno have been two of the brightest young stars in the game this year and have been a huge part of why the Diamondbacks made it to the NLCS.

Their offense has been crucial for the Snakes down the stretch, but their defense is getting some major notice.

Thomas, Moreno, and First Baseman Christian Walker have been named finalists for the NL Gold Glove Award—Thomas at Center Field and Moreno at Catcher.

Christian Walker received the Gold Glove last year as well. He led all first basemen this year with +12 outs above average. He will be going up against Carlos Santana and Freddie Freeman.

Alek Thomas finished with +5 outs above average, which is well behind the other two finalists. This would be his first chance at a Gold Glove. Thomas is facing Michael Harris II and Brenton Doyle.

Moreno led all majors with +9 caught stealings above average, which is impressive in his first full year as a major leaguer. He will be up against one of the best defensive catchers of all time in JT Realmuto, and rookie Patrick Bailey. Realmuto won this award last year.

However, this ends up going. It is very impressive that the D-backs have this many young players making names for themselves early. This is not surprising, given that the D-backs had one of the best defenses in baseball this year.
