The New York Mets swung the pendulum of power in the NL East late Sunday night when they signed Juan Soto to the richest contract in the history of professional sports.

New York inked the free agent slugger to a massive 15-year, $765 million deal; outdoing Shohei Ohtani's 10-year, $700 million deferred agreement with the Dodgers last offseason.

Now we have even more details concerning Soto's contract thanks to MLB insider Jon Heyman, who reported this afternoon:

"Juan Soto contract details: $765M, 15 years. $75M signing bonus (state tax advantage: Florida resident). about $120M overall pay 2025. No deferred $. Opt out after 5 years (age 30). Citi Field suite for family (est. value $500K plus plus a year) #mets."

Fans were floored by the terms.

"Gross Overpay," a user commented.

"This is either going to be a bargain or a bust. There's no in-between," another said.

"No deferred money is interesting," a fan replied. "No Dodgers foolery."

"A suite for his family? Lol they're gonna love watching the Mets finish 3rd in the NL East every year."

"Cohen fr overpaid a walk merchant," another person posted.

"Thats quite the contract… how do I get me one of those…."

"Not worth it! This will go down as the worst contract in Mets history! Yankees dodged a bullet on this one!" a New Yorker exclaimed.

It's not everyday you have the opportunity to add a player like Soto, who at 26 years of age is already a four-time All-Star, five-time Silver Slugger, Batting Title, Home Run Derby and World Series champion.

This year he proved to be the missing piece to the Yankees winning the American League pennant, and the Mets are hoping he'll prove to have a similar impact in his new digs across the 7 Line.
