The Last Time The Yankees Did This, They Won The World Series

The Yankees appear to be on a roll, with a 13-1 victory over the lowly Colorado Rockies putting an embarrassing 3-2 loss on Friday in the rearview mirror. Aaron Judge homered again, and Max Fried tossed 7 1/3 innings of dominant one-run ball.

Fried lowered his ERA to an MLB-best 1.29, and has thrown a quality start in eight of his last nine outings.

The Yankees were powered to victory by a 10-run 5th inning, where they brought 14 batters to the plate. The Yankees also plated 10 on May 6th versus the San Diego Padres, which is a surprisingly significant stat.

The Yankees went 18 days in between 10-run innings, which is the third-shortest span in between 10-run innings in Yankees history, according to MLB's Sarah Langs.

The last Yankees team to post 10-run innings in a shorter time was the 1951 New York Yankees, led by Yogi Berra, Gil McDougald, Phil Rizzuto and Joe DiMaggio. The Yankees won the World Series that year in six games over the San Francisco Giants.

This statistic seems fitting because despite losing Juan Soto in the offseason, the Yankees' off-season plan has seemed to come to fruition, with new acquisitions Fried, Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt having excellent starts to their years.

Bellinger and Goldschmidt were a combined 6-for-9 with two RBIs and two extra base hits in Saturday's win.
