The 'MLB Playoff strikeout leaders' quiz

After the New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox in the 2025 Wild Card, they had to turn to Luis Gil to start Game 1 of the ALDS against the Toronto Blue Jays. Their situation is a little different this year against the Tampa Bay Rays, with 2023 Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole officially taking the bump for New York in Game 1 at The Trop.

Cole missed all of 2025 and a chunk of 2026 after having Tommy John surgery last spring, and while he may have been nominally supplanted by Cam Schlittler as the staff ace, he’s been good against Tampa Bay this season. Cole is 1-1 in three starts, throwing 18 innings across those appearances to the tune of a 2.50 ERA with 16 strikeouts, seven walks and five earned runs.

The Rays took the season series between the two clubs 7-6 in the regular season and won the American League East with a 4.5-game cushion over the Yankees (who finished with 161 games played due to a final-day rainout).

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Cole has 156 postseason strikeouts under his belt, good for the seventh-most in MLB history. With that being said, can you name every pitcher with at least 100 Ks in the MLB Playoffs?

Good luck!
