The 'Most 35-HR, 100-RBI seasons' quiz

It may not have come as a Met, but slugger Pete Alonso was still able to celebrate his 300th home run with the fans who supported him for seven seasons. 

With the Baltimore Orioles down 3-2 in the top of the ninth inning at Citi Field, Alonso blasted a Kodai Senga forkball 414 feet to tie the game and earn a rare curtain call on the road from the Mets faithful despite wearing the opponents uniform. 

The homer forced extra-innings, where Baltimore would pull out a 7-5 victory and keep themselves on the fringe of the postseason picture and send the already-eliminated Mets to 69-82.

While the Orioles are still outside shots for a playoff spot, Alonso has had another strong individual season. With 10 games left in the regular season, the Polar Bear boasts a .267 batting average with 36 home runs and 101 RBIs – the fifth time in eight Big League seasons he’s reached both 35 dingers and 100 RBIs. He’s also on pace to play in all 162 games for the third consecutive campaign, with his last missed game coming in 2023.
