The 'Most 7-strikeout World Series games' quiz

The 2025 World Series heads to Los Angeles for Game 3 between the Dodgers and Blue Jays tied at one, and Toronto is going with experience on the mound to go for a 2-1 series lead.

Veteran Max Scherzer, who has four World Series starts under his belt and a career-3.18 ERA in the postseason, will get the ball to start Game 3. At 41 years old, Scherzer struggled in his injury-shortened regular season. Along with a 5.19 ERA in 17 starts, he also allowed 9.2 hits-per-nine-innings and a 1.294 WHIP. But in his lone start this postseason against the Seattle Mariners, Scherzer gutted out 5 ⅔ innings with 2 earned runs and five K’s in a win.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Scherzer’s two best World Series performances were the first two he pitched – striking out eight in his first start with the Detroit Tigers and seven more in his second with the Washington Nationals seven years later. With that being said, can you name every pitcher in the Live Ball Era (since 1920) with seven or more strikeouts in at least two World Series outings can you name in seven minutes?

Good luck!
