The 'No. 1 overall MLB Draft picks' quiz

Most professional sports teams don’t want people with the “interim,” tag as their general manager or head coach/manager heading into the draft, but that’s the situation the Washington Nationals were in this year. Just one week after firing their GM and manager and replacing them temporarily (for now at least) with Mike DeBartolo and Miguel Cairo respectively, Washington made a somewhat surprising selection with the 2025 MLB Amateur Draft’s top-overall pick. The Nats went with 17-year-old shortstop prospect Eli Willits from Fort. Cobb, Oklahoma – a player who hit .473 with eight home runs and 34 RBI en route to an Oklahoma state title in his final high school season.

While Willits never made it to the top spot in mock drafts, DeBartolo said Willits was always their plan.

“It’s rare to get someone that we think is both the best hitter and fielder in the draft,” he told MLB Network. “There was agreement across the board, Eli was our No. 1 guy.”

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Willits became the youngest player ever selected with the first-overall pick in MLB’s Amateur Draft. With that being said, how many of the players taken No. 1 can you name in six minutes?

Good luck!
