The recent climb back into the American League East contention for the Yankees included the success of various players. Two players that will continue to add substance to this club are outfielder Cody Bellinger and pitcher Luis Gil.

Bellinger And Gil Have Been Great Additions to the Yankees

The beginning of August was scary for the Yankees. The team’s demeanor spelled defeat, and it seemed that things were getting away from them. Things picked up in mid-August, as the Yankees won 9 of 10 games, closing out the month.

The success of the team’s recent efforts was driven by their strong offensive production and ability to score runs. Prominent names like Aaron Judge, Trent Grisham, and Jazz Chisholm Jr were in the mix. Bellinger has played an enormous role as well, jelling with the lineup, and being of big production.

Starting pitching has worked well in August, and the Yankees will require this to continue. Of all the starters, Gil will be one to depend on. The right-hander’s return to the big leagues was anticipated, as his offerings are a huge part of a postseason success plan

Both Bellinger and Gil will be big for the Bronx Bombers come September and onward.

Now more than ever, Bellinger has been proven to be a complementary addition to the Yankees outfield. His defense is very self-explanatory, and his offensive ability has been improving. Bellinger’s bat from the left side is gold for the club.

The outfielder has had quite the week with his offensive production. Bellinger has slashed a .444/.500/.778 in his last seven games.

His bat has contributed to the booming Yankees outfield run production, essentially batting their way back in the American League East race. In the past 30 games, Bellinger has slashed .274/.331/.496.

The left-handed hitter posted 32 hits, seven home runs, 25 RBIs, 11 walks, and scored 15 times. Bellinger, amongst other key bats, will be a massive contributor in the Yankees lineup for a tough September ahead.

Gil Will Be Depended On As An Experienced and Elite Arm

The return of Luis Gil was a gift from above for the Yankees. The club needs quality innings from its starters. Gil was sidelined in March of this year due to a right lat strain. The 2024 Rookie of the Year winner’s absence was a huge loss for the team.

His short time back has been a breath of fresh air. Gil has started six games so far during his return. He holds a 2-1 record with a 3.68 ERA in 29 and 1 / 3 innings of work, striking out 29 hitters.

Gil will provide the depth that the starting rotation needs. His innings will be fruitful, characterized by both quality and longevity. Gil is experienced in high-pressure situations and will be helpful in games with the Yankees’ backs against the wall.

Gil looks healthy, repeating his delivery well, staying balanced and compact on the mound. His three-pitch mix is still intact, maxing at 95.6 mph on his heater. The right-hander will be a key in the Yankees September run.
