The Detroit Tigers are opening up a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox on Monday at Comerica Park. The series represents two clubs that entered the season positioned to make the MLB playoffs after eventful offseasons.
Detroit will enter the series with an 18-17 record, tied with the Cleveland Guardians for first place in the American League Central. The Tigers will have their ace on the mound in 29-year-old superstar Tarik Skubal, who will be looking for his fourth win.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox have had a disappointing start that resulted in the club firing former manager Alex Cora. Boston will turn to young left-hander Payton Tolle as they look to end a two-game skid.
However, both southpaws will have to make a slight adjustment to their routine, as the start time for Monday’s series opener has been changed by MLB.
The Tigers released a statement detailing the adjustments and what fans should expect. “Due to forecasted precipitation in the area, tonight’s scheduled start time for the Tigers vs. Red Sox series opener at Comerica Park has been adjusted from 6:40 p.m. to 6:10 p.m,” the team wrote on X.

“Tickets held for tonight's game remain valid for the new scheduled start time,” it continued. “Entry times into the ballpark will remain the same as scheduled, with premium spaces opening at 4:30 p.m. and general gates opening at 5:00 p.m.”
The earlier start gives MLB a better window to get the game in before heavier rain moves through the Detroit area. Fans heading to Comerica Park should plan for potential delays throughout the night and prepare for wet, cool conditions.
Arriving early and keeping an eye on weather updates will help ensure a smoother experience as the Tigers and Red Sox open their series under less than ideal circumstances.
