The Detroit Tigers have had a great start to the season as they currently hold the best record in the American League.
Detroit has started the 2025 MLB season 33-18, which is not only the best record in the AL, but also in the entire MLB.
While the Tigers have been great this season, one of their franchise legends stole the spotlight on Friday as Miguel Cabrera made a major personal announcement.
Cabrera announced on Instagram on Friday that he will be continuing his playing career this winter as he will be joining the Tigres de Aragua in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League when their 2025-26 season begins in October.

Of course, Cabrera is widely regarded as the greatest Venezuelan-born player in baseball history and he will play in his home country for the first time since the 2007-08 season.
This comes after Cabrera officially retired from the MLB after the 2023 season after spending 21 seasons with two different teams.
Cabrera began his MLB career with the Florida Marlins, now the Miami Marlins, in 2003. He burst onto the scene quickly in Florida, making the All-Star team four times in his five seasons with the franchise while also helping the team win the World Series in his rookie season.
In 2007, the Marlins traded Cabrera to the Tigers where he would spend the remaining 16 seasons of his historic MLB career.
During his time in Detroit, Cabrera was a seven-time All-Star and also won back-to-back MVP awards in 2012 and 2013.
Of course, his 2013 season is one of the most well-known seasons in league history as he won the AL Triple Crown, becoming the first to do so since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967 and it has yet to be done since.
Cabrera had quite the MLB career as he ended it with a .306 career batting average, .382 OBP, .518 SLG and .901 OPS to go along with 511 career home runs, the 25th most in league history.
Despite retiring from the MLB in 2023, he is not ready to call it quits just yet as the 42-year-old slugger will return to the diamond this winter in his home country.
