Tigers Make Big Tarik Skubal Announcement After 10th Win

The Detroit Tigers picked up a 3–0 victory on Sunday Night Baseball against the Minnesota Twins, though the offense didn’t have to do much thanks to ace Tarik Skubal’s brilliance on the mound.

Skubal was dominant from start to finish, tossing seven shutout innings while racking up a remarkable 13 strikeouts. He allowed just one hit and one walk, earning his 10th win of the season and improving to 10–2 overall.

His ERA now sits at a stellar 2.15, continuing an impressive run after finishing with a 2.80 ERA in 2023 and a 2.39 ERA in 2024.

On Monday, MLB and the Tigers announced that Skubal has been named the American League Player of the Week.

Tarik Skubal turned in two dominant outings this week, going 2–0 while combining for 13 innings pitched, 21 strikeouts, and just two walks across performances against the Athletics and the Twins.

Following a playoff run last season, the Tigers now hold the best record in MLB at 53–32. They also maintain a commanding 11.5-game lead over the second-place Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central.
