The Detroit Tigers' organization has suddenly become one of the best and deepest talent-wise in Major League Baseball with the team maintaining its place in the penthouse of the American League Central despite a rash of injuries.
One such player is 2024 closer Jason Foley, who had a team-high 28 saves last season in Motown, placing him 9th in the Majors.
Foley went on the injured list in April with a right shoulder strain and has since undergone season-ending surgery.
On Wednesday, the Tigers shared an injury update on their bullpen arm with an eye toward a future recovery and return to the mound.
"RHP Jason Foley (right shoulder arthroscopy) is completing rehab daily," the Tigers' X account wrote in a series of injury updates on Wednesday ahead of Detroit's double header in Washington, D.C.
Foley did not pitch for the Tigers this season after four strong seasons to begin his career in the Motor City.
The Tigers reliever compiled 70 saves throughout those four seasons as he began to settle into a familiar role and rhythm with manager AJ Hinch's team.
"He's going to want to forget 2025 because he very much was going to be a part of this season," Hinch said earlier this year.
"I love him as a competitor and know he will attack this rehab."
With a career ERA of 3.16, Foley became one of the Tigers' most dependable relievers before being optioned to Triple-A Toledo at the start of the 2025 season.
