Topps creates card for fan who got hit in face with foul ball
John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

Toronto Blue Jays fan Liz McGuire went viral online this week, but not for any reason she ever would have expected.

McGuire got hit in the head/face by a foul ball from Bo Bichette during Sunday’s 5-2 win by the Blue Jays over the Tampa Bay Rays at Rogers Centre in Toronto. She shared photos of herself on X after the game and noted that she stayed until the end of the game despite being hit, and she didn’t even get the ball.

McGuire had a huge welt on her forehead and later developed a black eye.

McGuire wrote on X that she went for a medical assessment and X-rays after the game. Thankfully, her scans came back OK.

Someone asked McGuire if she was on her phone and not paying attention. She said she had turned her head to argue with a friend about the need for robot umps.

How relatable.

After she got hit and had nothing to show for it except for the black eye, Topps hooked her up by creating a baseball card design for her.

Topps said they were producing 110 cards like that and sending them to McGuire. She seemed pleased with the development. At least she finally got something for all her trouble!
