With the dust settling and the new season up on the Toronto Blue Jays in the coming weeks, there have been whispers that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is linked to and interested in American League East arch-rival Boston Red Sox.

These whispers have been coming from several pundits across the Major League Baseball, including Bob Nightingale of USA Today Sports, who has heard that Guerrero has shared with friends his interest in Boston.

Guerrero Jr. has stated all teams will have a chance to speak with him

During a recent interview with the New York Post's Jon Heyman, Guerrero Jr. explained that he is willing to let all 30 Major League Baseball teams have a chance to speak with him when free agency opens after the season is over.

"If I go to free agency, every team — all 30 teams — are going to have the opportunity to sit down with (me), to talk to me," Guerrero said.

It isn't much of a surprise that certain teams have surfaced over the past couple of days as the news spread around Major League Baseball that the Blue Jays and Guerrero were unable to come to an agreement on a contract extension as his self-imposed contract deadline had passed.

Arms race continues across Major League Baseball

These two past offseasons have been a form of an arms race between many of the richer baseball clubs throughout the league as teams continue to pluck expensive free agents who continue to drive the price up and put other teams out of contention for their services.

Many felt that the Blue Jays had an opportunity to land one of those high-priced players in Guerrero himself, as the team had the opportunity to negotiate a certain price that they could afford or willing to pay.

The Blue Jays had a rather disappointing offseason as they struck out several times with many prominent free agents, including Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, Alex Bregman and Japanese sensation Roki Sasaki.

It will be extremely disheartening to fans if the Blue Jays cannot sign Guerrero to a contract and especially see him signing with the Red Sox
