Shortstop Trea Turner delivered an excellent season for the Philadelphia Phillies in his third year with the organization. The 32-year-old veteran showed no signs of slowing down, posting a .304 batting average, .355 on-base percentage, .812 OPS, 15 home runs and 69 RBIs across 141 appearances.

Turner also took a noticeable stride defensively, recording a Fielding Run Value of 11, which ranked fourth out of 71 qualified shortstops in MLB according to Statcast’s Baseball Savant. He remained a threat on the basepaths as well, swiping 36 bases while being caught just seven times.

Turner’s 11-year, $300 million deal signed in December 2022 is still looking like great value three seasons in. He helped lead the Phillies to a second straight NL East title, although they were once again bounced in the divisional round.

As Turner prepares for the 2026 season, attempting to replicate the same approach that earned him a fifth-place finish in NL MVP voting, he received an honor from his college, N.C. State University.

He was inducted into the school’s Baseball Ring of Honor earlier this week and on Friday night was recognized ahead of an N.C. State football game alongside Carlos Rodon of the New York Yankees, Dan Plesac and Mike Caldwell.

The official N.C. State baseball account on Instagram shared photos of all four alumni attending the game and being inducted, including Turner holding a framed graphic with his wife Kristen that featured him in both a Phillies uniform and his college days. "Always find your way back home," the post read.

Turner spent three seasons at N.C. State, playing for the Wolfpack baseball team from 2012 to 2014 before declaring for the MLB Draft. He was selected in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft, 13th overall by the San Diego Padres.

Across his three collegiate years, he appeared in 173 games and established himself as one of the program’s all-time greats, posting a .342 batting average, .435 on-base percentage, .942 OPS, 20 home runs and an incredible 113 stolen bases. His blend of speed, defense and offensive consistency made him a foundational piece for the Wolfpack and set the stage for his rise to the majors.

Turner won a World Series title in 2019 with the Washington Nationals and now looks to bring another championship to Philadelphia, a franchise that has not won it all since 2008. With his contract secure and his production steady, Turner remains central to the Phillies’ hopes of finally breaking through in October.
