Trevor Bauer reveals his stunning ‘three rules’ of dating
Quinn Harris-USA TODAY Sports

Trevor Bauer without question is among the most eccentric personalities in Major League Baseball, but the Cleveland Indians pitcher may have somehow outdone himself with some stunning comments featured in a profile from Sports Illustrated.

In the piece, Bauer reveals his “three rules” of dating, which he claims to make abundantly clear ahead of any potential relationship.

“I have three rules,” he says. “One: no feelings. As soon as I sense you’re developing feelings, I’m going to cut it off, because I’m not interested in a relationship and I’m emotionally unavailable. Two: no social media posts about me while we’re together, because private life stays private. Three: I sleep with other people. I’m going to continue to sleep with other people. If you’re not O.K. with that, we won’t sleep together, and that’s perfectly fine. We can just be perfectly polite platonic friends.”

Well, that’s certainly something. One has to wonder how well Bauer’s extremely blunt qualifiers go over with prospective dates.

In any event, Bauer, an outstanding pitcher, indeed, won his arbitration case just last week against the Indians and is set to earn $13 million in 2019, $2 million more than Cleveland proposed. Interestingly, Bauer accused the Indians of attempting to commit “character assassination” during the hearing by bringing up his sometimes controversial antics on social media.

All that said, the Indians presumably are pleased to have Bauer in the fold for the upcoming season. On the personal-life front, however, Bauer is not expecting any major changes anytime soon, as he reveals in the SI piece the desire to get married one day, but also honestly states his fitness for marriage.

“I imagine if I was married at this point, I would be a very bad husband,” Bauer said.
