Trevor Bauer sets Reds' playoff record with 12 strikeouts

The Cincinnati Reds game went into extra innings against the Atlanta Braves, but that wasn't the talk of the town on Wednesday.

Trevor Bauer got the start against the Braves and the right-hander set a Reds record for most strikeouts in a postseason game with 12 in seven and 2/3 innings of shutout ball against Atlanta.

As he left the field after being relieved, he offered up a sarcastic "Tomahawk Chop" to the empty stands at Truist Park.

Bauer, a favorite for the National League Cy Young award, became the first pitcher in postseason history to strike out 12 batters while walking none and allowing two or less hits.

The 29-year-old, who will become a free agent after this season, had a stellar 2020 campaign, going 5-4 with a 1.73 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 100 strikeouts in 73 innings.

Bauer left the game in a 0-0 tie.
