Twins finally calling up highly-touted prospect Kaelen Culpepper

According to MLB Pipeline, Culpepper is Minnesota's No. 2 prospect and the No. 29 overall prospect in the majors.

Culpepper has slashed .271/.367/.458 with 14 home runs, 15 doubles, and two triples in 74 games this season at Triple-A St. Paul. He's scored 63 runs and driven in 46. Culpepper has also successfully stolen a base on 17 of 20 attempts.

Culpepper missed some time in June and July with a glute/hip strain. Had he not suffered the injury, he might've been called up earlier in the season. Either way, he's with the Twins now and has a chance to provide a spark to a Minnesota offense that has been awful since before the All-Star break.

Since July 9, the Twins are 29th in batting average (.219), 28th in on-base percentage (.289), and 27th in slugging (.357). Their 81 runs in the past 22 games rank 24th.

Meanwhile, Walker Jenkins, the Twins' No. 1 prospect who homered twice for the Saints on Thursday night, has not yet been called up. That, though, seems like matter of time before he joins Culpepper in the big leagues.
