Right-handed starting pitcher Joe Ryan is in his fifth season with the Minnesota Twins after being selected in the seventh round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays.

Ryan was acquired by Minnesota in July 2021 as part of the Nelson Cruz trade and made his MLB debut that September.

The 29-year-old right-hander is enjoying a standout 2025 season, earning his first career All-Star selection at Truist Park.

Since arriving in Minnesota, he’s been a model of consistency at the front of the Twins’ rotation. In 102 career starts, he owns a 3.70 ERA, a 42–30 record and 646 strikeouts.

Ahead of Ryan’s scheduled start against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, a new report surfaced about the Twins potentially moving the All-Star.
“The Twins will listen to offers, but are expected to keep starter Joe Ryan,” wrote Bob Nightengale.

The Twins currently sit at 47–51, losers of three straight games entering the series finale against the Rockies. The team is five games out of a playoff spot, making a late-season push for October baseball an uphill battle.

After this season, Ryan will have two more years of team control before he becomes an unrestricted free agent, meaning he could bring in a huge haul if the Twins decide to move on from the right-hander.

In 18 starts this season, he is 9–4 with a 2.72 ERA and 121 strikeouts, emerging as the team’s most dependable arm in a disappointing season thus far.
