Twins shut out in 5-0 series finale loss to Mariners

Mike Ford doubled the Mariners lead in the bottom of the eighth with a 413-foot homer run to right field as Seattle finished off the four-game series with a shutout win over the Twins.

Eduoard Julien set the tone early for the Twins, striking out in the first at-bat of the game, and the Twins reached the 1000 Ks mark for the season with Kyle Farmer's eighth inning strikeout.

Teoscar Hernandez opened scoring with an RBI single in the bottom of the first and added the second run for the Mariners with a fourth inning home run.

Ford's two-run shot in the eighth off of Jorge Lopez was followed by Lopez hitting three of the next four batters, bringing in one more run for the home side.

Byron Buxton closed out the game with his second strikeout of the game as he stretches his hitless streak to 0-26.
