The Los Angeles Dodgers have a talented pitching staff, but en route to their 2024 World Series title, the team's lesser-known arms had to rely on providing innings when they were unsure who would start.
With top-line additions like Blake Snell, Tanner Scott, and Roki Sasaki, two Dodgers right-handers, Landon Knack and Ben Casparius, may still play a role in the 2025 season.
As Los Angeles dealt with many pitching injuries last season, Knack saw some good time at the Major League level, throwing 69 innings and recording a 3.65 ERA.
He even saw meaningful innings in the playoffs, most memorably eating up four innings against the Yankees in Game 4, the only game the Dodgers lost in the Fall Classic.
Knack was able to show his pitching versatility last season and may have bought himself a reserve role in the bullpen. Casparius saw a very limited amount of innings in the 2024 playoffs and was mostly used in a mop-up role but did show efficiency with a 1.42 ERA over 6.1 postseason innings.
Both names are worth monitoring as the season develops. If the Dodgers were to become short-handed due to injuries, Casparius and Knack may have shown enough last season to be the first guys called on if needed.
