Two-time All-Star 3B Alex Bregman returning to Astros' lineup Wednesday against Royals

Two-time All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman is returning to the Houston Astros' lineup Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals, he confirmed via Twitter.

"It's great to have him back, man," shortstop Carlos Correa said, according to MLB.com. "He's one of the best players in the game when he's healthy, and we could not be more happy that he's back, he's healthy and he's feeling great. He's great to have around the clubhouse."

Bregman has been out since June 16 with a left quadriceps strain. He worked out at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday after playing a rehab game for Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday night.

The 27-year-old is hitting .275/.359/.428 with seven home runs and 34 RBI in 59 games this season.

The Astros are first in the American League West with a 74-52 record, 4.5 games ahead of the second-place Oakland Athletics. While Bregman was sidelined, Aledmys Diaz, Jacob Wilson and Taylor Jones saw time at third base.

Diaz is expected to return to a super-utility role whom Astros manager Dusty Baker can use around the diamond.
