Umpire Chad Whitson had a savage remark for San Francisco Giants pitcher Justin Verlander following a complaint on Sunday.

The Giants lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 8-6 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Second baseman Brett Wisely was batting with a runner on second base in the sixth inning. A couple of calls from Whitson, who was the home plate umpire, went against Wisely and cost him a walk.

After a second outside pitch was called a strike by Whitson, Verlander made a remark from the dugout.

“How about you worry about getting out of the third inning, huh?” Whitson said to Verlander.

That’s rough.

Verlander pitched against the Blue Jays on Friday and allowed four runs on nine hits over 2.2 innings. That’s what Whitson was referring to when he told Verlander to worry about getting out of the third inning.

It’s been a rough year for Verlander. The 42-year-old has gone 0-8 with a 4.99 ERA and has allowed 10 home runs in 16 starts. This might be the end of the road for the former MVP and 9-time All-Star. Getting ejected by Whitson for complaining on his off day is a new low.

Whitson is known for having a sharp mouth with those who complain.
