The Toronto Blue Jays need a late-round starter to become a notable prospect.

They may have just gotten that with Grant Rogers, a right-handed pitcher currently pitching for the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats. In last week’s Under the Radar Blue Jays prospect, we looked at Edward Duran.

Rogers was selected in the 11th round of the 2023 draft from McNeese State. The righty signed to a bonus of $150,000 and stands at 6’7”, 230 lbs. His fastball averages 93-95 mph, and he features a four-seam fastball, splitter, sinker, slider, changeup, and cutter.

He didn’t start his professional career until 2024, starting the season with the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays, where he finished with a 4.26 ERA and a 4.22 FIP in 74 innings pitched. Rogers earned a promotion to the High-A Vancouver Canadians, finishing the year with a 3.11 ERA and a 2.68 FIP in 37.2 innings pitched. Altogether, Rogers finished with a 3.87 ERA and a 3.70 FIP in 111.2 innings pitched, along with a 23.2 K% and a 6.1 BB%.

The 2025 season has been Rogers’s breakout year. The 24-year-old dominated High-A to begin the year, posting a 1.82 ERA and a 3.46 FIP in 39.2 innings pitched, or eight starts. Since his promotion to Double-A, Rogers has a 3 ERA and a 3.99 FIP in 15 innings pitched, with a 16.9 K% and a 6.2%. Combining the two levels, Rogers has a 2.14 ERA and a 3.61 FIP in 54.2 innings pitched, along with a 21.2 K% and a 9.3 BB%.

Rogers ranked as Fangraphs’ 20th-best Toronto Blue Jays prospect in their preseason update. He has a sidearm slot and consistently throws strikes. Fangraphs also notes that he has a high floor and is on track to make the big leagues in 2027, although this was before his great start to the 2025 season.

All in all, it looks like the Jays have a good late-round starter in the system, even if he’s a couple of years away from making an impact on the big league roster.
