With a runner on second and the Blue Jays leading 3-0, Guerrero stepped in with a 2-2 count against Guardians starter Tanner Bibee. After the pitch, Guerrero appeared visibly frustrated and was checked on by the training staff. He left the game shortly after and was replaced defensively by Davis Schneider ahead of the fourth inning.
Ernie Clement shifted to first base while Schneider took over second and Andres Gimenez moved to short.
The Blue Jays later announced that Guerrero suffered a right forearm contusion. He underwent precautionary x-rays, which fortunately came back negative for a fracture. Guerrero entered play hitting .282 with 11 home runs, 40 RBIs and an .837 OPS across 78 games this season.
