Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s three-homer game leads Blue Jays over Yankees

Toronto Blue Jays' first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. posted his second career three-homer game in a 6-4 win Wednesday night against the New York Yankees.

Guerrero smashed his first home run over the center field wall on just the 12th pitch of the night for New York's Gerrit Cole. The ball caromed back into play before eventually being ruled a homer, giving the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.

Guerrero took Cole deep again in his next at-bat, launching a 1-1 pitch into the visitors' bullpen at Yankee Stadium to give Toronto a 3-0 advantage.

In the top of the eighth, with Toronto leading 4-3, Guerrero smashed his third round-tripper, smashing a solo shot off Jonathan Loaisiga that landed in the second deck.

Guerrero had his first career three-home run game last April against the Washington Nationals, which saw the slugger smash two long balls against Max Scherzer.

Guerrero had five hits, a home run and four RBI in the Blue Jays' season-opening series against the Texas Rangers. Before erupting on Wednesday night against the Yankees, Guerrero was 0-for-8 with two strikeouts over the first two games of the series in New York.

On the year, Guerrero has nine hits in 23 at-bats. Through six games, he has four home runs and eight RBI.
