Washington Nationals Left Fielder James Wood With Historic Start To Career

Washington Nationals Left Fielder James Wood has had a great start to his major league career. Through 180 career games, he has walked 101 times, has 110 singles, 34 doubles, and 33 home runs. The only other players in the modern era to reach those marks through 180 games are Ted Williams and Nationals legend Juan Soto.

Wood has been good this season. He was named to his first All-Star team and participated in the Home Run Derby a few weeks ago. He is 10th in the league in home runs, 12th in RBI, and 12th in OPS. Will the young left fielder keep it going this summer?

When Wood debuted with the Washington Nationals in 2024, he did so with great fanfare. He was the No. 14 prospect in baseball entering the 2024 season and the No. 2 prospect in Washington’s system. While he had a good rookie season, his numbers are up across the board in 2025.
