The MLB needs to send Texas Rangers slugger Adolis Garcia the Pimp Job of the Year award as soon as possible.
The Baltimore Orioles had the Rangers on the ropes Monday in the top of the 10th inning at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Garcia came up to the plate with the Rangers needing to match the three-spot the Orioles put up to open extra innings. He worked a full count against Baltimore reliever Keegan Akin with runners on the corners and one out.
Akin’s payoff pitch was a 92.3-mph fastball right down the middle. Garcia didn’t waste the chance, smashing the ball off the second deck in left field for a game-tying three-run homer. Arguably just as electric as the home run was Garcia’s reaction. The Cuban stood on the plate and began flexing repeatedly as the crowd roared.

Here’s another angle of Garcia’s celebration.

Unfortunately for Garcia, his Rangers teammates were not able to finish the job. Baltimore answered with four more runs in the top of the 11th inning. There were no more Garcia heroics that followed in the 10-6 Rangers loss.
Garcia is no stranger to driving in clutch runs. He cemented his legacy in Rangers history during the team’s 2023 World Series run. But his celebration Monday was much more animated than the one Garcia did after hitting a grand slam in the 9th inning of 2023 ALCS Game 6.
