Watch: Brewers slugger blasts pair of homers in return from injury
Christian Yelich Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich had a return date in mind as he was recovering from some back stiffness and he hit it on Friday, when he was inserted into the starting lineup for just the second time in the last 13 games. He ended up having a multi-homer performance.

Christian Yelich hits two home runs for the Milwaukee Brewers in his first game back against the Miami Marlins.

Against the Marlins, the Brewers offense exploded. In the second inning they poured in 12 runs. The final runs of that inning came courtesy of a Yelich two-run home run to the opposite field.

Then, in the sixth inning, Yelich hit his second home run of the night.  This one was to dead center, plated three runs and extended Milwaukee’s lead to 16.

Overall, Yelich finished the night 3-for-4 with two home runs, one double, one walk and five runs batted in. There did not appear to be any visible lingering affects in regards to back stiffness. This is quite the drastic difference from a week ago, when he played against the Washington Nationals and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.

Hopefully Yelich is able to stay healthy throughout the remainder of the regular season, as well as for the duration of the playoffs.

The Brewers win Friday against the Marlins secured them a spot in the postseason and dropped their magic number to clinch the National League Central down to one.
