During the Toronto Blue Jays’ 6-1 win over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night, George Springer reached a milestone mark.

Springer blasted his 300th career home run in the top of the ninth inning off Red Sox reliever Ryan Watson. After Myles Straw worked a two-out walk off Watson, Springer stepped to the plate and drove a 90.5 MPH cutter from Watson 438 feet over the Green Monster to achieve the feat.

The 36-year-old has gotten off to a slow start to begin the 2026 season, but has gone 5-for-14 with two home runs and five RBIs over the Blue Jays’ past four games to raise his season average to .215 with seven home runs, 19 RBIs and four stolen bases through his first 51 games of the 2026 season.

Springer was originally selected 11th overall by the Houston Astros in the 2011 MLB Draft. Springer climbed the minor league ranks before being called up for his MLB debut on April 16 with the Astros against the Kansas City Royals. It took Springer 20 games before he slugged his first career home run on May 8, 2014, off Detroit Tigers left-hander Drew Smyly.

Springer went on to hit 174 home runs with the Astros before being signed by the Blue Jays on January 19, 2021, to a six-year, $150 million contract. Springer’s first home run in a Blue Jays uniform came on May 1, 2021, against Atlanta Braves right-hander Charlie Morton. The home run was hit at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, where the Blue Jays were playing their home games due to the global pandemic. During his Blue Jays tenure, Springer has hit 126 home runs to get himself to the 300-home run mark.

Springer has become almost a full-time designated hitter in his sixth, and potentially final, season with the Blue Jays. If the Blue Jays’ offence is going to get hot and carry this team, Springer is going to have a big say working out of the leadoff spot.

For his career, Springer has appeared in 1496 games and is batting .265 with 300 home runs and 815 RBIs to go along with a World Series championship in 2017, where Springer was named World Series Most Valuable Player.
