The San Francisco Giants found a moment of humor during Tuesday’s game when rookie catcher Daniel Susac appeared to reference Harrison Bader’s scooter accident after reaching second base on a double.

Susac extended both arms as if gripping scooter handlebars before smiling toward the dugout, where several teammates laughed at the gesture. The celebration came during San Francisco’s 5-4 loss to the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field, which ended on Ezequiel Duran’s walk-off double.

Jomboy Media shared the clip Thursday in a post on X, formerly Twitter, connecting the rookie’s celebration to the accident that further injured Bader’s left foot and prompted the Giants to suspend his salary payments.

Bader had already been sidelined since May 29 because of plantar fasciitis. Early on July 26, his electric scooter collided with a San Francisco Fire Department vehicle near Greenwich and Fillmore streets. A wheel reportedly rolled over his injured foot, further complicating his recovery.

President of baseball operations Buster Posey announced July 31 that the Giants would stop paying Bader until he could resume performing services for the organization. The Giants continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The 25-year-old catcher joined San Francisco after the Minnesota Twins selected him from the Athletics in the Rule 5 Draft and immediately traded him to the Giants. The former first-round pick earned an Opening Day roster spot, giving the club another young option behind the plate.

Susac was clearly trolling Bader. The timing, scooter motion, smile, and his teammates’ reaction made the joke impossible to miss.

For a Giants team navigating an unusual situation involving one of its veterans, Susac’s playful gesture quickly became a viral moment on social media and added some humor during Tuesday’s narrow loss.
