Watch: Hall-of-Fame SS Barry Larkin talks with Yardbarker about induction memories, David Ortiz, new league in India

On Monday morning, the United International Baseball League (UIBL) announced that they were partnering with Hall-of-Famers Barry Larkin and Mariano Rivera to bring professional baseball to India, Pakistan and the Middle East. The league will launch with an inaugural showcase that will take place in Dubai in February 2023.

Larkin, as well as UIBL President and CMO Kash Shaikh, talked with Yardbarker on Monday about the launch of the league and goals for the future. Larkin — who won a World Series title in 1990 as well as the 1995 NL MVP — made 12 All-Star teams over his 19-year MLB career.

The 58-year-old former shortstop spent his entire career with the Cincinnati Reds and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012. Larkin discussed not only his involvement in the new league's launch, but his induction memories and thoughts on this year's Baseball Writer's Association of America selection for enshrinement — David Ortiz.
