Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh got the last laugh against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday after an on-field altercation led to a benches-clearing incident.
Raleigh and Blue Jays pitcher Jose Berrios exchanged words midway through the 4th inning after Raleigh was stranded on second during Saturday’s game at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Raleigh seemingly took offense to something Berrios said, leaving the field, prompting the benches to briefly clear.

No one was ejected as a result of the incident, which passed quickly.
In the bottom of the 5th, Raleigh faced Berrios with two on and two out and got the best form of revenge. He ripped a double down the right field line that scored both runs and gave Seattle a 2-1 lead.

Raleigh did not do anything to show Berrios up, but that had to feel pretty good.
Raleigh has become a real team leader for the Mariners. He just landed a big contract extension before the start of the season and has responded with an impressive eight home runs in 20 games. Perhaps Berrios shouldn’t have gotten him so fired up in this instance.
