Watch: Mets rookie Brett Baty's high school baseball team celebrates after HR in first career at-bat

The New York Mets called up highly-touted infield prospect Brett Baty on Wednesday and immediately inserted him into the starting lineup that night against the rival-Atlanta Braves. Baty crushed a two-run home run in his first big league at-bat, helping the Mets pick up a crucial 9-7 road victory.

With much of his family and friends in the stands, the dinger rightfully drove the group bananas.

Nearly 1,000 miles west of Atlanta in Austin, TX., the Lake Travis High School baseball team (Baty's alma mater) was watching the 22-year-old's first at-bat and had a similarly celebratory reaction.

Baty recorded 19 home runs and 59 RBIs across 89 games for Double-A Binghamton this season, while slashing .312/.406/.544. In just six contests with the Triple-A Syracuse Mets before the promotion, he collected 8 hits and 3 walks in 26 plate appearances.
