Watch: Minor league pitcher Bowen Plagge makes maybe the most athletic double play of all-time

The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, the Single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have quite an athlete on their hands at the mound.

One of their pitchers, Bowen Plagge, is so athletic that he very well could have made one of the most impressive double-plays of all time.

Seriously, in a world of "fake news" and deep-fakes, it's almost hard to believe that this play from Plagge was real.

Let's set the scene.

Kannapolis was down 9-6 to the Carolina Mudcats in the bottom of the eighth inning. With just one out and a man on third, the Carolina batter rocketed a Plagge pitch right to the Kannapolis second baseman, who smartly threw behind the hesitating runner at third.

What resulted was a pickle of epic proportions, which you can watch below:

As you can see, Plagge did his job and covered home so that when the runner tried to advance back toward the plate, he was able to retrieve a toss from his teammate, and then on and on the pickle goes.

That's normally how it goes, at least, except Plagge reached down into his bag of tricks and not only ran down the runner at third, but he turned the corner like a prime Deion Sanders and ran down the hitter as well -- who was greedily trying to take third.

All-in-all, it was an incredible play by Plagge, who perhaps has a future as a gunner in the NFL if baseball doesn't work out for him.
