It was only the second game of the season for the Baltimore Orioles, but it will be difficult for them to have a loss worse than Saturday's 9-8 deflation in Boston.
Not only did the Orioles blow a 7-1 lead in the game, but they were a routine fly ball away from winning it.
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, Boston's Masataka Yoshida hit a routine fly ball to left field that looked like it would make for an easy catch for Ryan McKenna, one which would put the game away and hold off a furious Red Sox rally.
Then, this happened.
Man…. What a brutal way to lose.

Ryan McKenna drops a routine fly ball in left that would’ve ended the game.

Rough, but the Orioles still had a chance to close out the win. That is, until the very next hitter, Adam Duvall, ended the game outright.

There may still be 160 games remaining on the schedule for the Orioles, but they are going to have to try really, really hard to bottom out worse than they did on Saturday.
