Watch: Red Sox make it up to young fan after painful blunder

A young Boston Red Sox fan nearly experienced the heartbreak of a lifetime during Friday's game, but fortunately, the team found a way to make it up to her.

Rafael Devers fouled a pitch off into the upper deck behind home plate during Friday's game between the Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park. The ball was given to a young girl, who decided to show off her throwing skills and tossed it back down onto the field.

The girl's parents and a stadium worker looked devastated. The little girl eventually became upset, too, but the Red Sox cheered her up.

Later in the game, a ballpark employee brought the young fan a stuffed souvenir and another ball.

As they say, all's well that ends well.

We have seen plenty of fans throw balls back onto the field out of anger, but the young girl simply didn't know any better. Years from now, she will probably look back on that sequence and be thankful the Red Sox came through for her.
