Wake Forest junior right-handed pitcher Chase Burns was selected 2nd overall by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2024 MLB Draft. Burns has a fastball that operates at 97-99 miles per hour, with the ability to top 100mph when he needs to. He also had a plus curveball and change-up to keep batters guessing. The 2024 ACC Pitcher of the Year struck out 191 batters this past season setting a new Wake Forest single-season record. He also had a 2.70 ERA and opponents batted just .175 off of him. It should not be long before Reds fans see Chase Burns take the mound in Cincinnati.
