What Happened To Francisco Lindor? Latest Injury Update

The New York Mets are going through a horrendous start to the 2026 campaign. Francisco Lindor is among the superstars of the team that are struggling in the opening weeks of the season. The Mets’ shortstop missed spring training after undergoing left hamate bone surgery in February. But Lindor is showing positive signs of getting out of his slump lately.

Therefore, the New York Mets suffered a potentially crippling blow after Francisco Lindor made a premature exit during the 3-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. The 32-year-old started hobbling midway while sprinting from first base on a double from Francisco Alvarez to score the second run for his team in the bottom of the fourth inning.

“When somebody leaves the game, it’s tough,” Mets’ starting pitcher in the game, Clay Holmes, told reporters after the win. “I haven’t seen him. I’m not sure what tomorrow will look like. No matter who it is leaving the game, you feel for your teammate.”

Francisco Lindor managed to get up and head to the dugout unassisted, but did not reappear on the field again. He went 2-2 in the game with an RBI and a run scored. Brett Baty replaced him in the lineup and played third base with Bo Bichette taking up the shortstop position.

“He is going to get an MRI tomorrow and see what we are dealing with,” said Mendoza. “It sucks, and when you see a guy like Francisco Lindor, as tough as he is, I knew right away. He was rounding third base, and I knew something wasn’t right. We’ll see what we have.”

Meanwhile, Juan Soto returned to the Mets lineup on Wednesday after spending a couple of weeks on the IL with a calf injury as well. He is still unable to play the outfield and remains restricted to a DH role for now.
