White Sox Acquire Veteran Outfielder From Phillies

The Chicago White Sox are bringing back a familiar face.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the White Sox have acquired veteran outfielder Tommy Pham from the Philadelphia Phillies.

The expectation is that Pham will join the White Sox when rosters expand from 26 to 28 players on September 1.

Pham played for the White Sox during the 2024 season, slashing .266/.330/.380 with five home runs and 19 RBI in 70 games. He was dealt to the St. Louis Cardinals in a three-team trade that brought Miguel Vargas to Chicago.

This season, Pham has spent time in the organizations of the New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles, Phillies and now White Sox.

Pham, 38, is 0-for-13 this year in his only big league action, which came with the Mets back in April.

In 68 minor league games in 2026, Pham slashed .239/.365/.410 with a .775 OPS, eight homers and 39 RBI.

He will now be brought up to the majors to try and help the White Sox secure an AL Central division title. Pham should factor in as an outfield/DH option. The White Sox already have a deep outfield, but Pham could be a solid bench piece.

The White Sox currently lead the division by 3.5 games with a 72-64 record. However, the red-hot Cleveland Guardians, who are in second place, are right on their heels at 69-68.
