White Sox All-Star SS Tim Anderson expected to be activated from IL Monday

The Chicago White Sox lineup will soon get a boost with the return of All-Star shortstop Tim Anderson.

Out since May 29 with a right groin strain, Anderson is expected to be activated from the injured list on Monday, according to White Sox manager Tony La Russa.

There was a belief the White Sox might ease Anderson back into the lineup, playing him at DH occasionally along with his usual spot at shortstop. However, La Russa dispelled those rumors.

"He'll play short," La Russa told MLB.com. "The question is, is it spring training where he plays one and sits one, plays two and sits one? We'll determine that when they test him out when he gets here."

In his seventh season with the White Sox, Anderson is batting .356/.393/.503 with five home runs and 19 RBI in 40 games.

Recently, Anderson expressed his desire to remain with the White Sox for the rest of his career. Two team options for 2023 and 2024 remain on Anderson's current six-year, $25 million contract

"I want to be here until I'm done," Anderson told MLB.com. "I definitely think about that a lot. I feel like I'm at a point now where I kind of outplayed the last deal, and that's OK.

"You won't hear me complain....I know the ultimate goal here. My loyalty lies here, and I feel like they are loyal to me as well. But at the end of the day, I understand the business."
