The Sox backstop said he will likely serve as a designated hitter for the Barons over the weekend. Then he will make the trek to Triple-A Charlotte, where he will continue working toward game-ready shape.
Grandal hopes to return to the Chicago White Sox following the All-Star break. The Sox’s first game after the break is July 22 against the Cleveland Guardians.
Yasmani Grandal has been out of action since June 12 when he landed on the 10-day injured list due to lower back spasms. The 2022 campaign has been a tremendous struggle for the 33-year-old, who is slashing .185/.294/.237 with two home runs and 15 RBIs.
