White Sox Drop 10 Runs on Rangers, Win Fifth Series of the Year

The White Sox put up a six-run sixth inning, scored double-digit runs, and—get this—won a series. Their fifth of the year, to be exact, which already matches their grand total from 2024. No, you're not dreaming.

They actually came from behind to beat the Texas Rangers 10–5 on Saturday afternoon. Five guys had multi-hit games, two baseballs left the yard, and Luis Robert Jr. decided to be that guy again with three hits.

They even went 5-for-17 with runners in scoring position, which for them is basically like batting .800.

Plot Twist: They Didn't Collapse

Texas jumped out to a 3–0 lead in the fourth after Joshua Palacios, briefly possessed by the ghost of Dayan Viciedo, misplayed a ball in right that allowed a run to score. But then he immediately turned around and smashed a two-run homer in the bottom half of the inning.

The Rangers answered with a run in the fifth, and at that point, everyone watching assumed the script was loading: White Sox go quietly into the night, fans rage-scroll X (formerly Twitter), and everyone wonders if there's a minor league game worth watching instead.

But then… the sixth inning happened.

Austin Slater led things off with a triple. Chase Meidroth reached on an error. Mike Tauchman grounded into a fielder's choice that plated Slater. Miguel Vargas did the classic productive out thing. And then Andrew Benintendi ripped a double that drove in two.

Luis Robert Jr. slapped another hit, and after Palacios struck out, Matt Thaiss worked a walk to load the bases. Then Lenyn Sosa came up and cleared the bases with a double.

Slater and Meidroth both came up again that inning and walked, because chaos was the theme. Tauchman finally grounded out to end the madness.

Oh Yeah, They Kept Scoring

Robert Jr. added an RBI double in the seventh.

Tauchman launched a solo homer in the eighth for the 10th run.

Bryse Wilson, making a spot start after Jonathan Cannon got scratched with a back issue, gave the Sox four innings, surrendering only two earned runs. Not bad for a guy tossed into the rotation like a spare sock. Mike Vasil picked up the slack and fired three shutout innings in relief to slam the door.

News and Notes

  • That's five series wins for the 2025 White Sox. We're still adjusting to typing that without laughing.
  • Jonathan Cannon missed the start with a back thing—no word on when he'll return.
  • Chase Meidroth extended his hitting streak to 11 games. He also walked twice.
