When the Chicago White Sox departed Spring Training, veteran catcher Max Stassi wasn't quite ready to go. Dealing with left hip inflammation, Stassi landed on the injured list on March 25. Now, he's set to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte.

Stassi joined the White Sox in an offseason trade with the Atlanta Braves. The 33-year-old was brought in to solidify the South Siders' catching depth, a role that Korey Lee slid into as Stassi began the season on the shelf.

Stassi last played at the big-league level in 2022 as he missed all of last season due to a personal matter. He appeared in 12 games during White Sox Spring Training and went 4-for-23 with a double, a triple, and two RBIs.

Now, Stassi will join the Charlotte Knights to get back into the swing of things. The Sox' Triple-A affiliate opens a six-game homestand Tuesday when the Norfolk Tides visit Truist Field.
