White Sox 'optimistic' All-Star Carlos Rodon will pitch throughout playoffs

Chicago White Sox All-Star left-hander Carlos Rodon was limited during the second half of the regular season and dealt with soreness in his pitching arm in September.

According to The Associated Press (h/t ESPN), Chicago general manager Rick Hahn told reporters Monday he's "optimistic" Rodon will be able to pitch throughout the team's postseason run.

"Obviously, given the amount of work that he has endured this season, the jump from the previous years, his strength and comfort and general level of soreness and fatigue is something that we continue to monitor," Hahn added.

Rodon is set to take the bump only once in the best-of-five series against the Astros that gets underway in Houston this Thursday. He ended the regular season with a 13-5 record and a 2.37 ERA but completed only 28 innings over the campaign's final two months. His 132.2 innings are a personal high since 2016.

Chicago won the American League Central title at 93-69 and finished 13 games ahead of the second-place Cleveland Indians in the division race.
