As the Chicago White Sox attempt to halt their 12-game losing streak and avoid a sweep by the Baltimore Orioles, they've made two significant announcements this afternoon. The White Sox will promote Cuban third baseman Bryan Ramos from Triple-A Charlotte to be a taxi squad member. Also, the club announced they parted ways with Marco Paddy, who was in his 12th season as special assistant to the GM and head of international operations.

Ramos returns to the big leagues after a one-day stint with the big league club in August. He did not see any game action, and his promotion was procedural. The 22-year-old earns this promotion for his recent plate production. He's on a 15-game hitting streak and slashing .302/.407/.542 with six homers over 114 plate appearances since August 1 and reached base safely in 23 of the last 25 games.

Ramos hit .281 in 10 games in his first big league stint in May before an injury set him back.

To make room for Ramos' addition, the White Sox placed Brooks Baldwin on the 10-day injured list with a sprained right wrist. The rookie entered Tuesday night's game and went 0-for-3 after Miguel Vargas exited early after a collision with Andrew Benintendi. Baldwin had not played since August 27.

A New Day

On Wednesday, Chris Getz and Co. made changes within the front office in what the team described as a "mutual parting of ways." The White Sox have moved on from long-time International Operations leader Marco Paddy, who had been with the organization since 2011. Paddy replaced David Wilder, who landed in federal prison after a bonus money skimming scandal.

Paddy eventually won International Scout of the Year in 2022 and is credited with signings Jose Abreu, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Luis Robert Jr. However, the international talent pipeline has dried up in recent years as multiple $1M+ signings, such as Miker Adolfo and Yoelqui Cespedes, have failed to reach the big leagues. There are no leading candidates to fill the vacancy at this time.

What's On Tap Next?

The White Sox are looking to improve their facilities in the Dominican Republic as part of a makeover for their international department. It is still unclear whether Getz will go outside or inside the organization to hire his new international leader.

Ramos could see game action as soon as Thursday. Despite exiting Tuesday's game early, there is no indication if Vargas will require an IL stint. Vargas has primarily played third base since being acquired from the Dodgers, leaving questions about where Ramos's playing time will come from.
