The Chicago White Sox have reportedly inked a deal with right-hander Bryse Wilson, rolling the dice on the 27-year-old’s arm. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports the contract at a base value of $1.05 million and an additional $250,000 in potential incentives. The South Siders are clearly once again looking for bargain-bin gold as they navigate the offseason.

Wilson, a pitcher with a journeyman’s resume, has had a rollercoaster career spread over seven MLB seasons. Initially heralded as a promising talent with a debut at 20 for Atlanta and a slot in the 2019 Top 100 prospects, Wilson has struggled to cement his place as a consistent major league starter. His tenure with Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Milwaukee showcases a mixed bag of roles, from spot starter to multi-inning reliever, hinting at versatility but also a lack of specialization up to this point.
Despite having shown flashes of brilliance, Wilson’s stats tell the story of a pitcher still finding his way—carrying a career 4.61 ERA across 413.2 innings of work. His 2023 stint exclusively in relief showed a glimpse of potential, boasting a 2.58 ERA. However, he largely regressed back to career averages in 2024 after spending time in both the Brewers rotation and bullpen.
