White Sox to Designate Brad Keller for Assignment

Chicago White Sox pitcher Brad Keller will reportedly be designated for assignment after a rough showing against the New York Yankees on Saturday.

Keller signed a minor-league deal with Chicago on March 8. Although the deal included an invite to big-league Spring Training, he didn't make the roster out of camp. After spending some time with Triple-A Charlotte, the 28-year-old pitcher joined the big league club in a bullpen role on April 28.

Just last week, Keller moved from the bullpen into the starting rotation, taking the spot once held by Mike Soroka. In his two starts with Chicago, Keller's performance was nothing short of atrocious. The right-hander owns an 8.31 ERA after 8.2 innings of work over those two stars in which he gave up four home runs. It was a far cry from the 1.13 ERA he owns in eight innings of work out of the White Sox bullpen.

Keller's replacement in the White Sox rotation remains to be determined as of this writing. In the meantime, the White Sox reinstated reliever Dominic Leone from the 15-day injured list.
