With season over, Twins call up another top prospect

The Minnesota Twins are calling up another of their top prospects as the 2026 season comes to a close.

It emerged Saturday that Emmanuel Rodriguez is getting the call-up from the St. Paul Saints, the morning after a disappointing 5-2 loss at home to the Cleveland Guardians put another nail in the coffin on the season.

The 23-year-old outfielder is currently No. 5 in the Twins prospect rankings, per MLB Pipeline, with 1st- and 3rd-placed prospects Walker Jenkins and Kaelen Culpepper both called up in the past month.

Rodriguez was hitting .262 with 11 home runs, 33 RBI, seven stolen bases, and a .914 OPS in 49 games for the Saints this season.

His call-up comes a day after Byron Buxton’s season ended as he was placed on the injured list ahead of arthroscopic hip surgery next week.

It will give Twins fans a potential look at the future batting lineup as the core of Jenkins, Culpepper and Rodriguez take to Target Field.

Infielder Ben Ross has been optioned to St. Paul to make way for Rodriguez on the roster. The Twins take on the Guardians again at 3:10 p.m. Saturday.
